With prompting from Brainard I checked Horseshoe Road slough today (4/2).
From Horseshoe Road no water is visible anywhere. I parked and walked through the fields. At the northeast end is water about 200 feet by 30 feet in the area of the duck blind. 5 Yellowlegs and 2 Killdeer seen.
At the southwest end, about 100 by 20 feet. 15 Red-winged Blackbirds. In the fields Horned Larks and unid sparrows that would fly up out of then disappear back into the weeds
The water level is not like the past several springs since the Ohio River has not flooded the area as is usually the case in winter.

I can't believe Horseshoe Road slough has no water ? ? ? Has me worried that they changed the drainage ? ? ?________________________________ From: birdky-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of Charles Crawford
