Recently we were asked to record audio of Mourning Warblers in our region
to help studies trace the migratory routes of different groups of Mourning
Warblers. This is to ascertain whether the migrate together or
separately. Jay Pitocchelli reached out to me after I posted about the one
in the Lexington Cemetery and I sent him the audio. The bird is one of
those from the Eastern regiolect. These birds stretch from Ontario to New
England, separate from the Nova Scotia birds or the Western birds that
range from Alberta to Ontario. If anyone has other recordings he would
be interested in them. I’m attaching his response to the audio I sent and
two papers on the range of the different dialects.

It's a strange version of the MO1 syllable which is from the eastern
regiolect. I have attached some papers you can compare your bird to.
Please keep me in mind if you get any more recordings of MOWAs.
