So, I REALLY need to find someone and I now have only 2 weeks! I can be somewhat flexible with the dates which would make it potentially only a 5-6 week commitment. This could be a great opportunity for someone who does not have bird, botany, or entomology field research experience to get a start. If you have any ideas please pass on the advertisement below. Thanks, Emily SPRING MIGRATION FIELD ASSISTANT needed from 1 April to 20 May 2008 (start and end dates somewhat flexible), to study movement of songbirds in relation to vegetation structure and arthropod abundance during spring migration. Primary duties will be a combination of radio-tracking songbirds, botanical surveys, and insect sampling depending upon the interest/ experience of the applicant. Some experience with either radio-tracking, plant identification, and/or insect identification preferred but enthusiasm required. All individuals must have the ability to work alone in a remote setting, live well with others, show attention to detail in data collection, and tolerate heat and biting insects. Pay rate $1400/month and housing will be provided. Send letter of interest (including available dates), resume, phone numbers and email addresses of 3 references to Emily Cohen by email: emlcohen@xxxxxxxxxxx at the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Southern Mississippi. Applications will be accepted until positions filled.
