This morning, as I came back in the yard after my usual morning rounds, I heard
a couple of Mockingbirds making very emphatic distress calls in the front yard.
The last time the Mockingbirds got that torn up was over a snake, so I half
expected to find another snake. When I got a few feet from the Magnolia tree
the distress calls were coming from, a Cooper's Hawk came tearing out on my
side of the tree. Then poof! It was gone. The Mockingbirds quieted down
immediately, but they didn't thank me.
