Just a note of caution about some species that might be expected to occur in KY
during the CBC period.
In contrast to last year, Purple Finches, Pine Siskins, and Red-breasted
Nuthatches are essentially absent throughout the state as we enter
mid-December. There have been only a few reports of PUFI, only *ONE* PISI
report, and *NO* RBNU reports in eBird for the month of December across the
entire state (I think I looked at that correctly).
This is pretty astonishing, but indicates the need to cautiously report those
species on the CBCs.
