Cold sunny weather proved good for nine observers participating in the Hart
County CBC. Highlights included better than average numbers of waterfowl
species, five shrikes, five bald eagles, and large numbers of red-tailed hawks
and kestrels. One of the red-tailed hawks was a beautiful Harlan's, first
identified by Tom Durbin and confirmed by numerous observers, as it circled
leisurely overhead.
Of special interest is a Cape May warbler at a feeder in Horse Cave,
well-documented with photographs. The bird did not appear today, but it was
seen as recently as January 2nd.
