Frank,
I assumed that a young Shrike could be “up on its tech” and prefer GPS
coordinates. Anyway, whatever you told yours was close enough, because, while I
was trying to figure out how to find our coordinates, a Shrike appeared on the
snag across the road from the west-end of our property. If you hadn’t had a
conversation with it yet, I’d guess there are at least two Shrikes in Logan
County!
BTW, this is our first Shrike sighting for 2022 and I’d been thinking that we
might make it through the year without one.
Otherwise, I have only been out for about 40 minutes, and have already counted
two Harriers.

We encountered a Brown Thrasher on our morning front field circle today.
They used to be pretty commonplace here, but I can’t recollect seeing one
this year until this morning.
I’ve only seen 2 hummingbirds in one field of view so far today. Most of them
must have left town yesterday because their consumption rate suddenly dropped
from 3 cups per day to less than one cup per day.
In a reply to my shrike post, Stephen Tyson suggested that the shrike
mutterings might be a request for directions to Tyson Acres. Stephen has yet
to confirm that my directions to his place are correct, so I said nothing to
shrike when I heard it calling from a hidden location this morning.
