[birdky] Beckham Bird Club 2002 Birdathon

This was another great year for the Beckham Bird Club Birdathon setting a 
record of $6105 as of August 31. Thank you to all who made donations to this 
year's birdathon and made it such a success.
The BBC Board of Directors has distributed the money to the following 
organizations that requested funds.
1. Raptor Rehabilitation, Inc. - They used their $300 to help purchase 
transmitters for tracking Barn Owls that were released in Madison county.
2. Split Rock Conservation Park - Our contribution of $300 was used for bird 
guides and nest boxes for their educational programs and conservation 
projects. Split Rock is located in Petersburg, Ky.
3. Kentucky Resources Council, Inc. - The Council provide legal and strategic 
assistance and advocacy on behalf of low-income individuals and communities 
issues across the Commonwealth.  The council was given $750.
4. Kentucky State Nature Preserves Commission - Our contribution of $2002.50 
will be used toward the preservation and conservation work of protecting 
Kentucky's natural areas and rare, threatened, and endangered species.
5. Kentucky Natural Land Trust - Another $2002.50 will be used for 
acquisition and expansion of Blanton Forest in Harlan County.
6. Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Resources, Peabody WMA, Ken Hopewell/Homestead 
Unit - Money was given for two projects.  On the Hopewell/Homestead Unit $500 
was used for habitat enhancement which included plantings and food source for 
neo-tropical migrants. Another $250 was used to purchase cypress and cedar 
materials for bluebird boxes to be built by the Muhlenberg County School 
District South High School.
