Meg Brown and I drove into the Riverpark Place Marina hotspot today for a
quick check and noticed a mature Bald Eagle flying upstream to the
northeast, and out of sight. We lingered for a few moments to scan the
water, and the eagle (presumably the same one) then flew back downstream,
right over our heads, carrying a large branch. We watched it head west over
Towhead Island with its load of lumber until we lost sight of it.
Over the past few weeks we have observed two mature Bald Eagles flying
together, vocalizing and perching on trees on Towhead Island. Wonder if
this pair could be building another nest near downtown Louisville? They
might just be remodeling one of the known existing nests, but this bird was
pretty far from those nests. Another Eagle nest in Louisville would be neat!
