Not too long ago I spotted Mrs. Mallard dropping down in the red clover hay
field that begins a few steps from my middle field pond. Another year I mowed
over a Mallard nest that I didn't know about. If she was trying in a hayfield
again this year, I hoped to wait until the eggs before mowing. I was wondering
how I was going to know when the eggs hatched. My wondering is over. I spotted
4 baby Mallards at middle field pond this morning. Also saw my first Kingbird
this morning. A picture of 2 of the babies with my ebird report -
