Last night I slept outside on the porch at my cabin on Jonathan Creek (Ky.
Lake). I love to do this because I can hear all of the night sounds usually
comprised of coyotes, owls, and insects. Except for crickets, it was
quiet all night. At the first dawn of foggy light the Great Horned Owl
started hooting. It went on for about 30 minutes. In contrast to the
Great was a little hummer buzzing the feeder at the same time. It was a
porky little thing that hopefully will make it south with added body fat.
Then all of the other migrants and yard birds started chattering, and I
just rolled up in my sleeping bag and listened to the best symphony the
world has to offer.
