Mike Griffith and I drove by the South Shore WMA and later Cave Run Lake to check out the Minor Clark Fish Hatchery.Unfortunately, the persistent rain showers didn't make conditions favorable. At the South Shores WMA, there were only 40 Killdeers seen and no other shorebirds. At the Fish Hatchery, some of the birds seen were: Spotted Sandpipers(5) Green Herons-several Great Blue Herons-several Red-shouldered Hawk(1) Eastern Phoebe(1) Eastern Kingbird(4) Hopefully, some of the ponds will be drained in the near future allowing for better shorebird habitat, as the majority of the ponds were full.
