who frequnet this site. We appear to have a big "wildcat" on our = property in the knobs of Boyle County. We've heard its eerie sounds and = a neighbor has seen it under his security light deep in a holler at = night. He calls it a puma and describes it as dark colored with a long = tail. My question: technically what species is this big cat likely to = be? Technically pumas are not found in the eastern US except for a = handful in Florida. But terms like wildcat and mtn. lion are used to = cover a variety of species. Can anyone help? There is certainly a lot of = prey for a big cat--lots of wild turkey and deer and adequate forest = cover and den sites.
