We have a flood basin behind our house that is grown up with cattails and
grasses. The Red-winged blackbirds are roosting there in the hundreds. They
come in late and dive in with serious intent. I watched last night trying to
spot the unusual. There are a number of brown-headed cowbirds too, but didn't
locate anything else for sure. I had a yellow eye, but it may have been a
grackle, light was so dim and the movement so fast. I am surprised so many
could disappear in there and not weigh the grass down.
Birds are always more fun in mass
