Had a fun impromptu outing to Spindletop this morning. Seven of us came out to
look for the reported Rusty Blackbirds. We did find them, but most looks were
heavily back lit. Other good sightings included a couple of Merlin, first seen
chasing Mourning Doves before landing and giving us some scope views and the
Great Horned Owl in the woodlot. Ended the day with a respectable 39 species.A
