While I have had martins every year I have had the martin house the numbers
have declined (about 15 years is my guess, my memory is also declining). The
first 6-8 years I had fairly steady numbers, usually about 7-9 pair (twelve
room motel). I have not had but 4-5 pair since and this year I have 3 pair. I
was a little surprised they have stayed; wasn't sure they would nest in such
low numbers and may not.
The decline in the neighborhood could be partly to blame (development), I
consider moving out myself.
