In Toronto last week, Dave and I saw a very large group of long tailed ducks on
the lake. They were still in their winter plumage. Looked like the males had
hats made of pure snow. Beautiful! They shook their tails back and forth
often. It was fun to watch them dive into the water. The white on the sides
of their wings made it look like they were glowing as they moved underwater. I
was there for a Shakespeare conference, but the ducks were a highlight.
Male red-wings were in every green space of the city, honking away. No females
yet, though.
