After yesterday's sighting of a Hairy Woodpecker, I have now tallied all seven
expected KY woodpeckers at my home place after being there only 2 months. The
other woodpeckers include: downy, red-bellied, red-headed, pileated,
yellow-bellied sapsucker, northern flicker. Of course it doesn't make the
emerald ash borer catastrophe ok, but for what it's worth these birds have all
favored (or exclusively are in) the dead ash trees in the yard.
