I visited Spindletop this morning to have a look around. The snow was
coming down heavily, though, and few birds were moving away from cover.
Highlights included:
*Snow Geese*: There were a total of 28 snow geese on the frozen pond. A
larger group included 16 white and 5 blue morphs. A smaller group to the
west (also on the ice) had 7 white adults.

*Horned Larks*: There were 80-120 horned larks, mostly along Jet Pilot Way.
*Lapland Longspur*: I found a single lapland longspur in the largest flock
of horned larks (near the barn that is on the north side of Jet Pilot
Way). This single bird was quite cooperative, and walked to about 15 ft
from my car while I watched.
