I dropped by Spindletop yesterday and on the frozen pond there were about 1200
Canada Geese huddled against the cold. One goose was banded and the neckband
was the only thing I could read. I sent the code on to the Banding Lab. Once
the throng dispersed a bit I counted 6 Greater White-fronted Geese in the mix.
As an aside, in case I post/say that I see what one would take as a rare
European species/breed or use of odd term take that it is force of habit from
what I was used to naming things at home in Ireland. So for Greenland
White-Fronted Geese read Greater (Sorry Brainard), Divers are Loons and
Firecrests and Goldcrests are Kinglets.
