After hearing reports of a Kite at veterans I had been on the look out. 25
minutes ago while sitting outside on my deck after dinner I saw two large
birds with a rather distinct shape. This was followed by a quick
realization that I was probably looking at two Mississippi kites. This was
followed by a mad dash off my deck back into the house where I scrambled
for my keys so I could get to my car and retrieve my binoculars. I made it
in time for a couple of nice looks at them swooping around and grabbing at
things before they got too much altitude and drifted out of sight. An
exciting new yard bird for me for sure. Also exciting to think this pair
could be nesting close by.
