I have gradually realized that my 'main' National Geo. Field Guide is nowhere
on my premises. This is the one that has many years' worth of annotations (and
my bird list) in it. I may have inadvertently left it in somebody's car.
Please, if I have ridden with you this winter, and you haven't cleaned out your
car since then, check and see if I left it in your back seat!!! It is probably
marked with an address label inside either the front or back cover, and may
have an imprint on (or near) page 71. It may have my handwritten name inside
the cover.
Marie, I did the Christmas count with you. Seems like I have had the guide
since then, but I haven't been birding much this winter ...so, maybe. But you
probably would have found it by now unless it's hiding under a seat.
The other two 'walks' I've done this winter are Raven Run (we met out there, so
-- no carpool), and an impromptu at Spindletop. I did carpool (from inside the
gate) with someone at Spindletop, maybe Lou Shane? Or Jim Hodge? And I was at
Dave Svetich's house for the count summation dinner (and I was very
discombobulated that evening, so who knows what I may have done. But it
wouldn't make sense for me to take my field guide into the house with me there.)
I also don't think I would have taken it with me to the nest-box build at Raven
Run, but who knows? Maybe I left it out there. Again, if I have ridden with
you, I would greatly appreciate it if you would keep an eye out for this
beaten-up old field guide. It's valuable!
