Got out for a little birding over the weekend. Icterids are starting to
get here in good numbers. Waterfowl numbers are still low. Went down to
the Berea water plant to look for the Rough-legged Hawk reported by Paul
but was unable to locate the bird. Below are highlights:
American Wigeon- Pair at Reba
Northern Shoveler- at a few locations
Ring-necked Duck- at a few locations
Northern Harrier- a single male at Stoney Creek Subdivision off Berea Road
American Tree Sparrow- on Pumkin Road off Berea Road
Savannah Sparrow- single bird at White Hall Road
White-crowned Sparrows- several larger flocks in the area
All in all, not to many interesting species around. Owsley Fork was dead,
only thing on it was a few Pied-billed Grebes.
