Rhonda and I got some pics of a Green Heron on our Pulaski Co. CBC
efforts Saturday. She will have to down load the pictures from work
tomorrow. I don't think she can do it from home.
We also had Sandhill Cranes in a flyover and a Common Yellowthroat.
Scene of the day:
We were eating lunch, blanketed from the wind by our vehicle, watching a
Red-tailed Hawk playing with a flock of Starlings/Grackles in a large
corn stubble field; diving down just far enough to disturb them into a
cloud of black, ribboning like a school of bait fish under siege. Over
the constant rattle of the Grackles we heard the unmistakable gurgle of
Sandhills, first west then east. Eventually, both groups of 12 were
spotted quite high, heading south on beautiful sunny skies. Nice lunch.
