All, in case you are not on the statewide BirdKY list, there has been a pair of
Common Redpolls seen at a backyard feeder here in Lexington. It was first
reported on Saturday for the Great Backyard Bird Count.
I went by today and saw one of the Common Redpolls (maybe the female as it
didn't have much, if any, pink on the breast) with Jeff Sole. Alice was very
hospitable to visitors. She is an avid backyard bird feeder and has a great set
up. She lives no more than 100 yards from me, and I don't think my back yard
stands a chance of luring the Redpoll away. She is welcoming to more visitors.
She says folks can go down her driveway to the back, or you can knock on the
door first. Afternoon sun creates quite a bit of glare, so mornings may be best
particularly for pictures. She lives at 918 Aurora Ave here in Lexington. The
pin on ebird/google was accurate. I can give more detailed directions if anyone
needs them.

Subject: [birdky] RPT: Common Redpolls at Lexington
Dave Svetich called awhile ago to confirm the presence of a male Common
Redpoll at a home on the southeast side of Lexington. I assume he will post
more later. Those who receive eBird alerts have been made aware of this
sighting, and I believe the location is given in the report. I am busy today
and cannot provide any more detail other than the homeowners have had a male
and female there for a week or more. I believe Dave said that other visitors
will be welcomed, but I have no idea how to contact them at this point. I
suspect the eBird report and an internet search of their name and address
could yield enough detail to get to the place. I don't know about calling
ahead or not, but it might be a good idea at this point.
