Dear BHFA members, The BHFA is a member of the national Faith Action (www.faithaction.net) - "a network of Faith based and Community organisations serving their communities by delivering public services (such as childcare, health and social care, housing and welfare to work)." They have got in touch and asks us to promote "Friendly Places", a Mental Health campaign to make places of worship more welcoming, understanding and supportive of those who are troubled with their mental health. http://www.faithaction.net/areas-of-work/friendly-places/ On the link above you will find articles, tips, guidance and other resources to help your faith group make some practical and positive steps towards becoming more mental health friendly. They are also asking faith groups to sign the Friendly Place pledge, which is described as follows: . Recognising the small, intentional things that make a big difference to those struggling with mental health who are a part of your community . Recognising that those suffering with their mental health should not be placed on the margins of the community . Recognising the role that faith groups already play in providing welcome and support . Encouraging further practical steps to provide support and tackle mental health stigma and discrimination Please could you circulate this email to relevant members of your faith group and encourage them to sign the pledge if you feel this is a campaign you are willing to support.
