Dear members,
Ever wanted to try Mixed Doubles curling, but didn't know where to start?
Afraid you can't do it because you deliver on a stabilizer? Not quite sure
how the rules work? Well, then the information below is for you!
Over the past few weeks, I have had some inquiries and interest from
members wanting to learn/ try out the Mixed Doubles curling format. I have
arranged to have a 'Learn to Mixed Doubles' session on Sat, Dec 29th from
2-4pm (that is the afternoon before the holiday party). The session will
consist of a short overview of the game, rules explanation, and quick
strategy discussion. We will then practice and play a short game to give
participants a feel for this quick-paced game. A short broomstacking
session will follow.
Mixed Doubles is an adaptable game. If you have wanted to try it before but
were hesitant because you deliver the rock on a stabilizer or just
generally don't feel comfortable being able to 'sweep your own stone' after
delivery - that is not necessary to successfully play Mixed Doubles! Part
of the session will include a discussion of strategies on how to play as a
team where players sweep their teammates stones - no 'getting up and
sweeping your own rock' necessary.
This session is open to adult curlers (21+) of all experience levels. The
cost of the session/ ice time is $10. The 'sign up' is listed in the
"Practice" section of our registration page
