Travis, If the bird was singing after dark it's possible that it was Mockingbird or even a Yellow-breasted Chat. Both sing sometimes at night. Or, was the call something similar to a Whip-poor will's call? If so, it might be a Chuck will's widow. Let us know if you figure it out.
