We've had red breasted nuthatches at our feeders the past two mornings. This is
the first time that these fellows have
been to our feeders in 35 years of looking. In fact, I believe it is the first
time I've ever seen a red breasted nuthatch.
Also, on Sunday Nov 8 we went walking at the new industrial park located just
south of Pikeville. As we drove up we saw
a northern harrier gliding about 20 feet above the road. That is all that we
saw of him---never seen one in Pike County
before. We also saw several meadowlarks. Only once before have I seen a
meadowlark in Pike County.
This sounds as if it will be an interesting winter bird wise. I certainly hope
so.
