While spending a nice quiet day at home, periodically watching the yard around my feeders and pond, I was pleased to see an unusual but welcome visitor. It was a White-crowned Sparrow on the ground below my feeders and hopping on the rocks around my pond. Have also had a Baltimore Oriole male yesterday, and a pair of Yellow Warblers at the pond on Sunday. I've always had the normal yard birds around the property, but since I put in the pond, I'm pleased to welcome many birds I've never seen here before. It's amazing what a big difference even a little pond like this one can make. Gary Cooper Bristol, Virginia
