I racked up 13 species of warbler, yesterday, on Guesses Fork. I found most
of them in one massive feeder flock. I ran into several smaller flocks, as
well, but most of the species I saw were in one large wave. I was switching
my binoculars from bird to bird about every three seconds, but it was still
impossible to catch all of them.

I've never seen so many Tennessees in one area. I am hesitant to even
estimate their number, but I was looking at dozens at one time. In fact,
around 7 p.m., I was sitting on my parents' porch, and three Tennessees
flew in, still feeding furiously, right in the yard.

The big miss of the day (birders are never satisfied!) was a
Black-and-white. A near miss was Mr. Fancy Pants (Blackburnian), but he
finally made an appearance late in the afternoon.

Warblers:
Yellow-throated
Black-throated Green
Tennessee
Magnolia
Redstart
Hooded
Pine
Yellow
Ovenbird
Palm
Bay-breasted
Black-throated Blue
Blackburnian

Other notable birds:
Yellow-billed Cuckoo (about 20 feet away, eye-level)
Swainson's Thrush
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Scarlet Tanager
Broad-winged Hawk (1)
Red-eyed Vireo
Blue-headed Vireo
Yellow-throated Vireo
White-eyed Vireo

Cheers to fall birding,
Michelle
