Glad you were able to get a pic of our "First of Fall" Hermit Thrush. The
sparrows seem to be running a little late this fall but I really enjoyed our
birding. Those meadowlarks were everywhere and I'm fairly certain that lone
blackbird was a Rusty. Thanks for a good morning. Dave

Subject: [bcbirdclub] Poplar/Southern Gap birding
This morning David Raines and I met up bright and early at Southern Gap to
see if we could find any migrants. The birds were a little scarce but while
waiting on David to arrive, I was very excited to hear a bull elk bugling in
the distance. Later, we did manage to scare up a few birds including a
Northern Harrier, American Kestrel, Sharp-shinned and Red-shouldered Hawk,
Yellow-rumped and Palm Warblers, White-throated sparrow, Ruby-crowned
Kinglet and all the other usual suspects. We also had several first of the
season species for myself and David. Among them were Golden-crowned
Kinglet, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker and the Hermit Thrush in the attached
photo. Thanks to Dave for the nice bird walk!
Daryl
