Yesterday afternoon I counted 37 species in the yard and yard stream here on
Compton Mountain. Eight of the species were warblers. Some of the highlights
of the group were Blue-headed Vireo, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, both Swainson's
and Wood Thrushes, a Mockingbird, a specie we don't get often here on the
mountain. The warblers were Worm-eating, Tennessees, American Redstarts, a
Cape May, a Magnolia, two Bay-breasted, and one Blackpoll, but the most
pleasant surprise was this handsome male Black-throated Blue that came down
to the yard stream.
I have also attached a few other nature photos I took over the weekend on a
visit to relatives in Sparta, NC.
Yesterday's complete list is at the bottom of this post.
