Okay, okay, I know that everyone who left the hawk watch at 6:30 thought that we were stuck at 1998. I went over my hastily scribbled records and used a calculator and found 3 math errors, 2 plus and 1 minus. So the official total is 2001. This was an outstanding day that almost didn't get started for me. I was headed off the hill and going home because of he rain and fog when I met Don Carrier on the way up. We started back down and met Roger Mayhorn, David Raines, and Steve Sweeney. They convinced me to head back up the hill and give it a try. As soon as we got to the top, the fog cleared and the hawks started coming and kept coming all day. I left my backpack at the truck at the bottom of the hill so I scribbled the count on scrap paper and did not get the names of all the hawkwatchers. Here is as many as I can remember: Larry McDaniel, Rob Biller, Jennifer Meade, Ken Turner, Jean Montgomery, Laverne Hunter and others: Thank you all for making this a wonderful day.
