Excluding Mount Rogers and Whitetop Mountain, priority blocks in
high-elevation areas above 4,500 feet have seen next to no Atlasing
activity.

Found mostly in far southwest Virginia, these little-known peaks bring
incredible finds. Studded with balds and rare southern Appalachian
spruce-fir forest, the areas offer glimpses of high-elevation birds
typically found only in the far Northeast.

more about three of our most fascinating—and under-birded—locations.
Note!  Two of our Atlas rally events (Hungry Mother
<https://goo.gl/forms/PFkzYPY9aYxyNZjU2> and Natural Tunnel
<https://goo.gl/forms/VV64zBa6dtKkFauI2>) will be held in the
mountain-valley region of SW VA.  Spots still available, so register today!

Volunteers will be participating in the first Atlas rally event this
weekend, birding priority blocks in the vicinity of Farmville.  Early
scouting efforts have already netted 20 new confirmations in area PBs.
We're excited to see what this first rally weekend yields for the project!

Good birding!
