I received a call earlier today from Ronald Compton, who lives a couple of
miles around the mountain from our place. He said the large white bird, that
he had mentioned to me before, was back. When I got there this Great Egret
was perched in a tree near Ronald's farm pond. Even though I didn't get out
of the car it shortly took flight and left. This a species that we don't see
that often here in the county, especially here on the mountain.
