Yesterday a Yellow-throated Warbler appeared in our yard, as they usually do
this time of year, and as they have done for the past 3 years this one came
immediately to feed at the suet feeder.
That seems rather unusual for a warbler. It started when the
Yellow-throateds had returned one year and we had a cold snap. Not having
access to insects and seeing other birds coming to the suet feeder they
tried it. I'm not sure whether this one is one of the original pair, or
whether they have taught this behavior to their offspring. From what I have
read warblers and other song birds live only 3 or 4 years. Here is a link
