Folks, Finally found some time (and gas money) to get up to Enoch's Branch near Grundy and bird this afternoon. Didn't arrive until after 11 and could only stay until 3, so it's no surprise it wasn't a banner day, but it wasn't bad either. It was just one of those very hot humid days when the birds were more into taking "nooners" than singing and moving about. However, managed to see several Blue-Winged Warblers, Hooded Warblers, Kentucky Warblers, Ovenbirds, one Black and White Warbler, and one Black-Throated Green Warbler, Indigo Buntings, one Northern Parula, Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers, Red-Eyed Vireos, and one Yellow-Throated Vireo. The highlight of the afternoon was a beautiful male Prairie Warbler singing for all he was worth in the scrub brush near the beginning of the trail at the far side of the ball fields. Other warblers that I heard but didn't actually see included one possible Golden-Winged, one Cerulean, and one Worm-Eating. Other interesting birds included a Pileated Woodpecker that buzzed me, Scarlet Tanagers, and a Red-Shouldered Hawk. I don't have my website set-up at the moment, so here's a few greatly reduced photos. Enjoy the birds...
