I had an unusual sighting yesterday, at least I thought, here in New Bern NC. I
was watching a busy flock of yellow rumps and spotted an immature Summer
Tanager.
November 3 seems late to me.

Jane & I went to Osceola Island yesterday where we found the Common Gallinule
that had been reported there. It was in a small inlet on the island with
several Mallards and a couple of American Wigeons. On the way, we had an adult
Bald Eagle land on the bank of Spring Creek just before the turn off to Painter
Creek Rd, the road into Musick's Campground. Afterwards, we made a quick stop
at Middlebrook Lake where we found, in the fading light, several Blue-winged
Teal and Ring-necked Ducks.
