[bcbirdclub] Breeding Bird Outing on Head of Slate Creek and Compton Mountain

BCBC members will meet at 8:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 17 at The Mayhorns's
place on Compton Mountain. The group will then head down Mary Kelly Road to
find nesting Cerulean Warblers and various other species. From there the
birders will head out to bird the road that runs beneath the Compton
Mountain Golf Course where they should find several warbler species, vireos,
Scarlet Tanagers, hawks etc.
After a bathroom break at the Mayhorns and lunch (bring your own) the avian
searchers will head to the Head of Slate Creek in search of various other
species, Kentucky Warblers, Acadian Flycatchers, possible Ruffed Grouse and
hopefully hear and see the Swainson's Warblers that usually nest in that
area. The group will also enjoy seeing the new beaver pond that has been
rebuilt there after having been destroyed some years ago.
Bring your lunch and drink, and come join us for birding as only the
beautiful Appalachian Mountains can provide.
