Today David Raines and I, Roger Mayhorn, birded three different areas here on
Compton Mt. We counted 53 species. One of the highlights of the day was finding
a small mountain stream where Ovenbirds, a Kentucky Warbler, an American
Redstart and an Eastern Towhee were coming to bathe. Some of the migrants that
were passing through the area were 20 or more Pine Siskins, 2 male
Rose-breasted Grosbeaks and 1 White-crowned Sparrow. It was a great day to be
out birding in beautiful spring woods.
