Subject: [bas] Regarding Match Disqualification
There are two classes of action pistol shooters:
1) Those that have been disqualified.
2) Those that will be disqualified.
In other words, a match disqualification (DQ) can happen to anyone, and
probably will at some point. In 2012, Rob Leatham (one of the greatest action
pistol shooters of all time) was disqualified at USPSA Single Stack Nationals,
when he accidentally knocked his gun out of his hand during a reload.
A match DQ comes from doing something deemed by the rules to be unsafe. If you
are disqualified (DQed), it means you are finished shooting that particular
match. You will be asked to put your gun away.
A match DQ does NOT mean you are a bad person. It doesn’t mean we don’t like
you. It doesn’t mean you can’t come back and shoot another match on another
day. In fact, you are encouraged to stay, observe, and help out with the
remainder of the match.
