Dear Fellow Librarians, Vaunda Micheaux Nelson will be in the Bay Area from
December 4-6, 2019. She is presenting at Live Oak's book fair, and there is
time in her schedule to visit other school and public libraries. Vaunda was a
wonderful presenter when she visited Live Oak several years ago, and we are all
looking forward to her return visit.
Vaunda's has written picture books, as well as some amazing biographies. I am
impressed by her thoughtful stories of largely unknown yet fascinating figures
in American/African American history, including her own great uncle who was the
owner of one of the original bookstores in Harlem (No Crystal Stair). She is an
excellent researcher, and I can’t wait for her to share tips and strategies
with our students. Vaunda will be talking to students in grades 4-8 at Live
Oak, but I know she would also be wonderful with younger children.
