A comparative study of student writing.
https://daily.jstor.org/student-writing-in-the-digital-age/ ;
Discusses the transition in the length of papers, kinds of errors made - and
suggests appropriate feedback. Looking at mistakes is another way of saying
that you begin not with what students know and do correctly but what their
misconceptions and mistakes are ripe for "friction" intervention. The
remarks about "code switching" are related to the understanding that
students have about the audience and medium --- a necessary component of any
projects / writing.
I'm wondering how audience figures into the research projects you work on
.especially those which appear to be "for the teacher" or "for peers" rather
than outside the class audiences? Noodling about a column about the absence
of audience.and maybe even the absence of medium.(e.g., the five paragraph
essay to nobody)
