I'm sorry to make this a bigger snowball, but since we're talking
layoffs... Oakland Unified is planning to lay off all of the librarians and
close all of the libraries that aren't PTA funded beginning next school
year. Here's a news article that sums it up

If folks have the bandwidth to write in a letter, it would be much
appreciated. Many of the affected libraries were closed for years and only
recently reopened. I worked in one of those libraries last year and had
students who had never even been in a library before, so it's especially
heartbreaking.
