I re-organized mine a few years back by either region or if they had
something in common. As an example, all the versions of Cinderella or
Little Red Riding Hood are shelved together as "Common Tales" no matter
where they originated. Stand alone titles from different regions are
shelved in that Region by place name. I also organized Trickster tales
together, Tall Tales, so on and so forth based mainly on how the units are
taught most commonly in the classrooms.

We have a large folk/fairy tale collection … have them all under 398.2
plus the first 3 letters of the author’s name … but we do have Grimm and
Andersen also tagged with their names and the shelf noted “GRIMM,”
“ANDERSEN.” Also, I bought letter stickers (so I add an “A” or whatever to
the spine) from Demco … to help with shelf reading and with shelving the
fairy/folk tales.
