Subject: [baisl] Re: New Opportunity for Building a Shared Overdrive
eBook/audiobook Library
Mercy HSB would be interested too. We use Overdrive at present, and any
reduction in prices would be appreciated. I would love to know how to
incorporate it into Follett Destiny - particularly as I am looking at
integrating the two right now.

Hello BAISLers,
Kevin Coon, the OverDrive rep for all BAISL schools, contacted me today about
setting up a consortium/shared
collection<http://company.overdrive.com/education/k-12-schools/shared-ebook-audiobook-collections/>
for all interested schools in our group. I am in favor of providing resources
via a consortium as it allows our students to have access to a more engaging
and diverse collection of resources than I can build with my own budget (our
collection with OverDrive has been growing for 3 years, but is still not very
big). With 100 percent of the investment going towards buying content and no
setup fees, I am strongly in favor of joining forces with those of you that
would be interested as we might be able to launch a collection with over $10K
in content or more.
Kevin mentioned that he has already built a collection that includes over a
dozen schools with the ISLE group and I was able to get him to provide the
participation tiers which are based on school size. These figures represent
never-before-seen prices for using OverDrive (a 75 percent reduction for my
school, in fact), so I hope those of you that have not yet started offering
digital content (and even those who have) take a close look at this opportunity.
<500 = $250
501- 749 = $500
750 - 999 = $750
1000-1499 = $1000
1500+ = $1500
I will try and field as many questions as I can for the group and if it’s
helpful, Kevin has said he is willing to set up a webinar/conference call so
that he can review the details with us. He is going to send me an official
participation form over the next few days so that I can share it with all of
you.
For those that don’t know Kevin, he is based in CA and can be reached at
