Hello everyone,
I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I am the new librarian
at Live Oak School in San Francisco as Jenny and Melissa retired at the end
of last school year. I have been a teacher at Live Oak for a while and I am
excited to have completed my MLIS studies and to start on this new career
path even though things will be a little "different" this year.
Like many of you, I am working out how we will get books into the hands of
readers. While we have lots of eBook options, we know this is not the best
option for the youngest readers and also kids who have been on screens a
lot during the school day. I am currently developing a rotating model where
students will receive new books every four weeks. Hopefully this model will
transition well to in-person instruction as social distancing requires that
we use the library as a seventh grade classroom (boo!)
At any rate, I look forward to learning from and with you all in the
upcoming school year.
