Greetings,
As you may have gathered, as of today there has been a shift in the
purchasing and borrowing model for ebooks from Penguin Random House.
Previously they made ebooks available through Overdrive with the one
copy/one user model, wherein once we purchase a title we own it in
perpetuity. Their model going forward will be one of "metered access",
meaning in this case that we would purchase essentially a two year license
for loaning the book, one user at a time. At the end of the two years we
would need to purchase the titles again.
Bailey, our Overdrive rep, made us aware of this and encouraged us to
purchase Penguin Random House titles before this change took effect. All
the titles currently in our collection will continue to be governed by the
one copy/one user rules. Accordingly, we were able to pull together an
order in time for the deadline. There are 62 new titles now in the
collection.
