Hello BAISL,
My Director of Equity and Inclusion is looking for dystopian short fiction
to teach equity literacy to 10th graders. She is looking for the
following:
Short stories, preferably by POC writers and/or featuring POC protagonists
that provide context for discussion about:
· stereotypes
· prejudice
· discrimination
· systemic inequities/systemic racism
· intersectionality/ intersectional activism
· what it means to build a multiracial democracy
I’d love to hear your suggestions!
Thank you!

*Subject: *Dystopian short stories
Hi,
I went to a session at Facing Race, which got me thinking—maybe there’s a
way to teach equity literacy in HD10 through dystopian short fiction.
Got any dystopian short stories you know about (preferably by POC writers
or featuring POC protagonists) that may provide context for discussions
about stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, systemic inequities/systemic
racism, intersectionality/ intersectional activism, what it means to build
a multiracial democracy, etc. etc. etc.?
Thank you!
